INDESCRIBABLE!
Have you ever seen the excitement on the face of a child who awakes on Christmas morning to find the toy he wanted so badly under the Christmas tree? The excitement and pleasure on MY face after producing my first e-book are almost indescribable. I produced a book! I start to see Newbury award Noble Prize for literature and any of the awards you can think of. Any way, let me get back down to earth and see if I can produce a next e-book. I may probably try one with more writing and features. I would probably put in a Contents page and put a little more writing on the pages. There's no way to stop me now. I am on the move.

SAVOURING EVERY MOMENT
I am glad to have the upper hand with regard to technology even it's just for a short while. You know what it is to talk about your PB Works account and Google docs and see computer savvy people look at you with eyes opened wide in amazement as if to say "What are you talking about?" Finally I can repeat what my son normally says to me" Get with the technology."Ever wonder for how long though? Remember the video about wiki when the man referred to sending e-mail as the "old way" and introduced wiki as the "new way". The way the technology is evolving I wouldn't be surprised if before the end of this course that we may have to alter our thinking and refer to one of the new technologies we are being exposed to as the old way.As we are aware new technology for information and communication continually appear and they change so rapidly that we are never able to thoroughly evaluate them.At this very moment some computer guru may be experimenting with some computer software that may make some existing ones obsolete.
A NEW HOBBY? MAYBE
I have always wanted to purchase a digital camera.Seeing what scope I have for using it and listening to the tips to produce a good photograph induces me to hurry up and purchase one. But guess what? I haven't a clue how to upload the pictures to the computer.I often sat next to my son or daughter and looked at the pictures which they had taken with their digital cameras. My interest was in seeing how the pictures looked. It never dawned on me to concentrate on how to transfer the pictures onto the computer. Guess what? I regret not having done so. I now have to ask my son to show me what to do.I would pass on my tips on how to take a good picture and he would have to pass on his skills to me.I would even show him how to operate Photostory3 when I see what is to be done.

TRADITIONALISTS AND TECHNOLOGY
Now that I am doing this course in information technology I believe that teachers would soon have to change the look of contemporary classrooms as we know it. Interactive technology tools such as laptops would soon have to be an integral part of every classroom. As teachers we would have to re look the way in which we teach and learn. We would have to make the learning environment in the classroom more stimulating and exciting by the introduction of interactive technologies. there might be teachers who are not interested in using technology and might resist change. These are the traditionalists who might believe that they have been teaching for years without using technology and have been successful so far. I believe that the Ministry of Education should implement a program of studies to train teachers in best online teaching practices to support teaching and learning. Regardless of students' technological skills and digital competence it is the teachers' technological skills that is the key factor in determining how much value a student gets out of classroom technology. I feel that if we cannot beat the technology we might as well join it.
TECHNOLOGY! TECHNOLOGY!
The computer is full of infinite possibilities. We have seen how easy access to technology has opened the doors for almost anyone to become an author or a creator with the creation of e-books. We have seen that there are sites that allow easy access to upload images ,video and audio. These sites provide teachers with a low cost means to produce their own books. We also saw how content could be delivered to mobile phones. I can see that soon we may have to remove the ban on cell phones in schools. Pretty soon the use of the cell phone as an educational tool would have to be accepted. As a matter of fact in a very short time the cell phone will be as much a part of education as pens, pencils and book bags. What do you think?

THINK ON THIS
Will e-books provide the answer to the numerous complaints parents have about their children having to carry around so many books in a very heavy bag? Some teachers require students to bring all their books to school everyday. This is because in some cases they do not follow the time table and are not sure what subject/s they would do on a particular day. They feel that it is easier for students to have all of their books all of the time. Time and time again parents have been pleading with teachers to provide a time table or give students a list of books they would need on specific days of the week but to no avail. Some parents are afraid that the heavy bags will lead to their children experiencing back problems in later years. I feel that a good way to ease the plight of parents is to make all texts and reading materials available in electronic form. Think on it. It's not so impossible. It's the 21st. century isn't it? Maybe the government can now offer every school child a personal laptop.Students will now be able to experience a "living" book with the addition of features such as sound, animation and video clips with the click of a mouse. Parents can now breathe a sigh of relief. No more heavy bags again. Read more about e-books by going to these sites Text novel.com,Goodreads.com or Scribd.com.

CRITIQUING WEB SITES
The assignment given to determine whether the given web sites were valid or invalid and to give reasons why or why not seemed daunting at first. I feel I can now examine web sites with a critical eye and would not be fooled "by the seduction of "cool" graphics or the weakness of poor logic." I know now that I also need to pay attention to the author's credibility and to be more critical of the things I read especially when they are on the internet. My new found confidence can be attributed to a book I discovered in the library. The author points to three fundamental questions that might be used to begin with when one encounters a web document.
Ethos: What individual, organisation or institution created this document?
Logos: What argument does this document make and is it a logical, coherent one?
Pathos:How does this document attempt to persuade its readers through emotional appeals(visual, aural or textual)?
The author believes that there's good reason to begin with ethos testing the credibility of a source before examining the quality of its content.(logos). Furthermore it's wise to investigate logos before turning to the pathos of imagery. As teachers we need a strategy for improving students' critical reading of web sites leading them to "subject the entire document to a rhetorical analysis adopting a systematic approach rather than a random one."

Becoming Better at technology
This ICT course is providing a stimilus for a transformation in my thinking about technology. I decided after all the frustration experienced that I am going to try to master the technology. You would notice that I got brave and decided to try to add a picture . I am realising that it is going to be very challenging to keep up with the technology.I am also realising that learning to use technology in the demanding environment of the classroom would also be very challenging.Learning to use the computer in a training session is just the beginning. However I am willing to give the new technology a try.I know that I would not discover the exciting new possibilities without confronting the challenges that are bound to occur.
My Blogging Experience
I must admit that I am not too technology savvy. I could not remember the password for my blog. I spent the greater part of three hours trying all the possible passwords that came to mind but to no avail. I became frustrated. I GOT A SEVERE HEADACHE. I then decided to reopen a new account. This time I was smart enough to write down my password in my personal journal. I then had to cut and paste my previous blog to the new account. When I tried to post a new blog and I clicked on Create a blog I kept getting a page which asked for verification. More frustration. Finally I decided to click onNew Post and then I was able to begin to type this post. With a little bit of practice I may be able to change from a keyboarding novice to a seasoned hand at blogging. I need to practice the skills of blogging and commenting.
Help For Struggling Readers
Hello,I am Heather.
I have always been interested in Reading and helping struggling readers. My interest intensified when I was posted to my new school.Whereas in my former school there were few children who could not read at this present school there are few children who can read well.I decided that I must do something to help those students who are struggling . I enrolled in this course with the hope that I can get some insight into how I can move the struggling readers at my school to become independent readers.
