Becoming Better at technology

`

This ICT course is providing a stimilus for a transformation in my thinking about technology. I decided after all the frustration experienced that I am going to try to master the technology. You would notice that I got brave and decided to try to add a picture . I am realising that it is going to be very challenging to keep up with the technology.I am also realising that learning to use technology in the demanding environment of the classroom would also be very challenging.Learning to use the computer in a training session is just the beginning. However I am willing to give the new technology a try.I know that I would not discover the exciting new possibilities without confronting the challenges that are bound to occur.

  1. I am also looking forward to the time when I will master the art of using the computer and all these tools. I will admit that I wasn't aware of the vastness that existed with this technology. My only real use of the computer is for research purposes. But with the knowledge that I am gaining here, I would want to continue learning and applying it in my work and at home. Today I had the experience of using a video that I downloaded onto my laptop, and it felt exhilarating that I could use the technology to demonstrate its application in the classroom. The main thing is to jump in and get your feet wet. I think once you try, you will never look back.

  2. Since we seem to be sharing our "hangups" about using technology, I think I will add my piece as well. My problem with the computer was "What do I really do with it?" Of course I used it to do research, look at videos on YouTube that I was interested in, and played games such as Scrabble, which I like. Apart from such however, I never could understand how persons could spend hours just browsing or reading stuff. I think now that this ICT course has opened up new possibilities for me. There is a lot of free software out there that can help us meet our students' educational demands and present it in a way that is truly in keeping with their time.
I know that I will be spending a lot more time on my computer now!!

  3. Hello Avril
I too used to wonder what people use to be doing on the computer all the day long. Now I feel my computer screen is trying to devour me. He keeps looking at me all the time. He is always beckoning me. I can't seem to pass in front of him without him trying to inveigle me to come and keep his company. He seems to be saying "are you finish with your blogs?'" If I try to ignore him it's trouble . The lure of this computer is something else. I can't seem to let a day go by without doing something on it. I know too that when I return to school I would have a lot to share with my teachers and also the weaker students. I can't wait to see the excitement on their faces.
